Filming data

FilmL.A. provides filming permit services for Los Angeles City, Los Angeles County and 14 other municipalities. The FilmL.A. permits are public and may be dowloaded from the Online Permit System (OPS). Film L.A. also issues a quarterly press releases summarizing of filming activity and collects complaint data on request.

Filming data for the LA Region(2008-2018)      NEW!!
AltadenaFilming participated in a project to estimate the amount of untaxed, film-rental income in the Los Angeles region. As a side effect, we were able to obtain a 10-year record of filming for LA Region. This data set is a unique compilation of filming permit records not available elsewhere. Altadena filming frequency data(2008-2018)      NEW!!
AltadenaFilming participated in a project to estimate the amount of untaxed, film-rental income in the Los Angeles region. As a side effect, we were able to obtain a nearly complete record of filming for Altadena and adjacent unincorporated areas (zip codes 91001, 91104, 91107). Overall filming frequency reports (Since 1993)
FilmL.A. is issues quarterly data on filming activity as press releases. Neither FilmL.A. or any of the government agencies provide this public data in a table form, like a spreadsheet, suitable for analysis. In order to fill that gap, AltadenaFilming has consolidated these pubic data into spreadsheets that may be used by any interested member of the public.

Quarterly complaint and frequency data for the unincorporated LA County (2014-2016)
The Los Angeles County contract with FilmL.A. requires the collection and reporting of complaint data. County frequency and complaint data is not published but is available on request from the County's Film Liaison. (See the contact list for contact information.) In the past the data was provided as pdf documents. AltadenaFilming provides them here in an form suitable for analysis.

Filming permit data for the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County (2014-2016)
In response to a February 2, 2017 public records request, FilmL.A. created a data set of permits for the LA County's CEO office. The data provides insight into the distribution of filming activity in the unincorporated areas of the County.
